The Perfect Morning Routine for a Productive Day

You know how some days, you can just tell it’s going to be a bad day before you’ve even left the house? Everything has gone wrong, you’re in a bad mood and nothing feels quite right. Well, often that’s because you don’t have a positive morning routine. Without a routine, you’re opening your morning up to chance. Then, when things start to go wrong, you fall into a negative mood, which sticks with you all day. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s a bad day because you decided it would be before you’d left the house that morning.

Having a positive and structured morning routine means you start your day right. You wake up and follow steps which mean that by the time your day really gets started you are feeling happy, alert and confident. Ready to face any challenges your day may bring head on. Knowing it’s going to be a good day.

Here’s a look at some steps to include in your morning routine if you want the rest of your day to be productive and happy.

Essential Oils

Defusing some doTERRA oils when you first wake up is a great way to start the day. Lemon is a great option as its zingy scent can give you a fantastically refreshing morning boost. Peppermint is another excellent choice as it can help to settle your stomach and reset your digestive system for the day. doTERRA products can also be used to treat aches, pains, and other medical conditions. So, if there is something specific you are struggling with, find the right oils to help you.

Stretches

Once you're out of bed and breathing in a refreshing aroma, do some simple stretches. A basic morning yoga routine can help to boost your circulation, reduce morning aches and help you to feel more alert.

Exercise

Make sure you stretch every day, but on the days when you have a little more time, follow it with a morning run or workout video. This will ensure you get a good burst of endorphins, helping you to feel happy and confident all day long.

Leave the Phone

If you sleep with your phone next to the bed and check it as soon as you open your eyes, you are giving it an awful lot of power over your mood. Instead, leave it in a different room and don’t check it until after breakfast.

Shower

Long baths are great when you’ve got plenty of time and want to relax and unwind. Preferably, at the end of a long day. They can help you sleep and get rid of the days stresses. In the morning, however, a shower can be the perfect wake up.

Breakfast

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Try to stick to something healthy and filling such as oats or eggs.

This may seem like a lot to fit in, but waking up a little earlier so you’ve got time for a slow and structured morning routine gives your body and mind a great chance to wake up and prepare for your day.
